Royal jelly: a supreme food

Royal jelly is a thick, organic substance produced by the worker bees. It serves as the queen bee’s exclusive kind of food. It is not an exaggeration to say that royal jelly is the most healthful food human can consume, with numerous, certified beneficial properties.

Royal jelly was introduced to the masses during the ‘50s, more specifically in 1954, when Pope Pius the 12th, who was of an advanced age, managed to get over his health problems by consuming royal jelly. In particular, each gram contains: thiamine (B1) 3,9 mg, riboflavin (B2) 26,5 mg, niacin (B3) 84 mg, pantothenic acid 186 mg, pyridoxine (B6) 2,4 mg, inositol 100 mg, biotin 1,7 mg, folic acid 0,2 mg. It also contains the vitamins B12, A, D, E, K and C in varied amounts. Its flavor is slightly acid and its color is yellowy. According to analysis, its main ingredients’ average content is: humidity 67%, proteins 15,5%, sugars 12,5%, fatty substances 4% and cinder 1%.

Its miraculous properties can be witnessed in the queen bees, who only differ from worker bees in nutrition. However, this difference enables the queen bees to surpass  the worker bees 40% in size, to live almost 40% more and to bear 2500 eggs everyday (2,5 times their size).

Dosage: Adults: a teaspoon of royal jelly every morning before breakfast, under the tongue, until it has dispersed. Children: half a teaspoon. Athletes and patients: up to two teaspoons. Royal jelly has to be consumed for three months per year. Its effectiveness depends on its freshness. It can be preserved in a 5oC (domestic fridge) up to 6 months; its quality gets poor if it comes in contact with air, light and metallic utensils.
